Derek the Hungry Sheep

The first book of the series Adventures at Hidden Valley Farm is inspired by the antics of Derek the sheep. He’s a hungry, friendly, cheeky sheep and he is always looking for more food. He gets fed in the morning with his friend Babs the goat. But oh no! he can’t just have his morning feed, he wants to fill his tummy up more – and so his day begins…. Babs Goes to the Fair (Coming soon...)

The second book of the Adventures at Hidden Valley series is inspired by the adventures of Babs the goat who came with us to the Steiner Fair in 2022. Babs the goat, Derek the sheep and two miniture ponies arrive at the fair. Farmer Terri sets up a lovely play area for them with lots of hay and treats. But Babs had an other idea of her own she looked at the small people walking around having so much fun, "I want to do what they are doing!"...........And the adventure begins. Age Range: Early Learners onwards but we find all ages can't help but read it. Learn more by following us on facebook

Meet the Authors

Claire (AKA Claire Crow), one of our regular volunteers and sponsors, and Terri (AKA Farmer Terri) are writing a series of children's story books that are inspired by all the animals adventures on Hidden Valley Farm. The illustrator, Julie Davies from Joolzart, is a friend of theirs who is a local talented artist in her own right, and she really brings their stories to life. The book is printed by Copy Press in Nelson and distributed on this site with at least 50% share of profits toward the car and husbundry costs of the farm pets placed in our care.
The series is perfect for parents/grandparents and guardians to read to their young children. The farm is open by appointment only with farm holidays, animal and people therapies, workshops and more.To learn more follow Facebook.
